- Write down the names and addresses of all parties involved in the accident.
- Obtain the names and addresses of all witnesses to the accident.
- In the event of bodily injury, make sure that the injured parties receive medical assistance.
- Report the matter to the nearest police station.
- Keep a record of the measurements of the accident scene and confirm this information with the investigating police officer.
- Take the name and number of the officer to whom the report is made.
- Wherever possible make a sketch drawing of the scene of the accident.
- It is a condition of most insurance policies that an insured should make no admission of liability.
- Report the matter in writing immediately to the Insurance Company together with all the relevant supporting documents.
- Obtain at least two (2) estimates of repair/replacement/reinstatement costs.
- Co-operate fully with the investigating officer assigned by your Insurance Company.
- Note and fulfill the terms and conditions of the insurance contract upon which the claims will be made.
- Some policies require that the insured carry an excess/deductible. Read your policy contract to determine the amount of the policy excess/deductible.
- Co-operate with your insurance company in all matters dealing with the accident. It is a condition of your insurance policy.
